Earnings from Electronics Making Fall 14% Through July
Profits from China's electronics manufacturing industry declined 14% year on year to ¥122.72 billion in the first seven months of 2012 due in large part to a sharp increase in financial expenses, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said. The industry's revenue was up 9.4% to ¥3.9 trillion during the period. A total of 4,253 firms in the industry reported losses between January and July, up 20.2% from the same period a year ago.
Software Revenue Rises 25% Through July
Revenue from China's software industry grew 25.4% year on year to ¥1.3 trillion in the first seven months of 2012, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said. The industry exported $19.1 billion worth of software products between January and July, up 12.5% from the same period a year ago.
Port Cargo Traffic Up 6.6% Through July
Cargo throughputs at China's ports grew 6.6% year on year to 5.55 billion tons in the first seven months of 2012, the Ministry of Transportation said. Shipping container traffic rose 7.9% to 99.57 million TEUs during the period.
