Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Co, a joint venture between Hubei province-based Dongfeng Automobile (600006.SH) and Japanese Nissan Motor Co (7201.TKY), sold 276,891 vehicles in mainland China over the first ten months of the year, up 27% from a year earlier, Sina.com.cn
reported, citing an interview in Money Week with Dongfeng Nissan chairman-cum-president Kimiyasu Nakamura. The growth rate, which was boosted by 42% year-on-year growth in September and 45% in October, was 2.7 times greater than the industry average. Nakamura said the company was aiming to sell 400,000 vehicles next year. "We are not planning to introduce new models next year given our product line-up is already highly developed," he added. He also said he was pessimistic about the 10 million sales projection set for China's automotive industry at the beginning of the year.
