August 8 – Volkswagen Shanghai's sales in China grew 3.4% year on year to 85,243 units in July and grew 15.6% year on year to 612,203 units in the first seven months.

August 4 – Intel Capital said it has invested a total of $22 million in three Chinese technology firms, namely Shanghai-based B2C e-commerce firm 6DXchange (, Beijing-based HD smart TV value-added service provider and smart set-top box developer Joysee Technology, a subsidiary of DTV conditional access system provider China Digital TV Holding (NYSE: STV), and Shanghai-based M2M firm Bocom Intelligent Network, Marbridge Daily reported.

August 3 – Hyatt Hotels Corp (NYSE: H) said it plans to more than double the number of its hotels in China to 50 from currently 20.
