Huawei Technologies Co, China's biggest telecommunications equipment maker, will hire 600 employees for its North American operations to consolidate the world's biggest telecommunications market. The recruitment will lift its local payroll to 1,500. The company expects this year's regional revenue to expand over 60% from $250 million in 2008; global sales are estimated to shoot up 20% to $30 billion in 2009.
Huawei has surpassed Siemens to become the world's number two telecommunications device maker with a 20% global market share, second just to Ericsson's 33%, according to the latest report by Dell'Oro.
