CCID Consulting figures show 96.4 million mobile handsets were sold in the domestic market in the first half of the year, up 17.52% year-on-year, the China Securities Journal
reported. Year-round domestic sales of mobile handsets are expected to reach 205 million units, up 17.55% on the year before. Nokia snared a 41.02% market share in China with its huge advantage in GSM technology, followed by Samsung and Motorola. China’s mobile handset production capacity expanded 21.2% year-on-year to 279 million in the first six months, with 182 million, or 65%, destined for export markets, up 22.74% year-on-year. CCID predicts China will roll out 605 million mobile handsets for the whole of the year, up 16.9% on the year before, and will export 400 million, up 16.79% on the year before.
