Shanghai's minimum wage will increase to ¥1,120 ($1 = ¥6.8) per month or ¥9 per hour starting April 1, the city's human resource and social security bureau said Sunday. The existing rates, the highest nationwide, are ¥960/month or ¥8/hour respectively. It is the 17th increase since the law was put in place in 1993. Jiangsu, Guangdong, Fujian and Shanxi provinces had previously raised minimum wages as well this year.
