The government of Shenzhen, Guangdong province, will spend US$438.66 million (RMB3 billion) building a new hi-tech industrial zone for its software sector, the China Securities Journal
reported. The Shenzhen Software Base will contain 631,700 square meters of floor space on 150,000 square meters of land area. Shenzhen’s software sector had an output of US$12.57 billion (RMB86 billion) in 2007, accounting for 15% of China’s total software output. It exported US$4.5 billion worth of products, accounting for 45% of the nation’s total software exports.
