Suning announced that it has become an exclusive Disney partner for retailing cartoon electronic equipment, and that it had opened an online sales outlet for Disney-themed electronics, National Business Daily reports. A Suning insider said that the company is in talks with Disney about possibly expanding the partnership to make Suning an exclusive dealer in brick-and-mortar stores as well. Competitor Gome, however, established a relationship with Disney at the end of 2004 to sell Mickey-themed MP3 players at its retail outlets. Gome said that it was pleased with the success of the MP3 sales, and that it too has been in talks with Disney about expanding it relationship to include Disney-themed digital products.A third electronics retailer, Yolo, signed a one-year dealership agreement with Apple. Sales of digital products have become a large contributor to the profits of electronics chains. Yolo is aiming to up the proportion of digital products at its stores from 45% to 60% this year, and Suning and Gome are likewise turning more and more toward digital products.
