Electronics and telecoms maker TCL Corporation (000100.SZ) reported net profits of US$7.5 million (RMB51.3 million) for the third quarter from US$1.48 billion (RMB10.12 billion) in turnover, the
Shanghai Securities News reported. Turnover was up 10.05% on a year earlier, but no comparative figures were reported for net profit. Revenues grew 8.02% year-on-year over the first nine months to US$4.14 billion (RMB28.33 billion), from which the company chalked up US$68.72 million (RMB470 million) in net profit. TCL sold nearly 4.2 million TV sets during the third quarter, up 8.6% year-on-year, including 1.175 million LCD TVs, up 263.8% year-on-year. Sales of traditional cathode ray tube (CRT) TVs declined 14.7% to 3.021 million sets. Sales of mobile handsets remained steady as compared to the same period last year at 3.5475 million, including 2.9051 million handsets sold overseas.
