A combination of transportation network and increasing domestic and international investments is transforming Zhengzhou into one of the largest economic centers in China. Located in Henan Province, non-mental product manufacturing is the city’s largest industry, with coal mining being the second largest. Other manufactured goods include tractors, locomotives, fertilizer, processed meats, and electrical equipment.
A focus for finance, commerce, trade, and resource distribution in central China, Zhengzhou’s high-tech industrial park is home to rapidly growing high-tech companies in new materials, electronics and biotechnology. Furthermore, the Zhengdong new zone, currently under construction, will create housing for one million people and include a central business district, commercial logistics district, science and technology park, and university district.
