Fans of American fast food are in for a treat: Iconic brands Taco Bell and Krispy Kreme are set to establish a presence in Germany. İş Holding (ISH), the franchise company already holding the master franchises for KFC and Pizza Hut in Germany, has announced plans to open the first locations of these renowned brands in Berlin. The company confirmed this news in response to an inquiry from Business Insider, following an initial report by the trade publication “Food-Service.”
According to ISH, the Mexican fast food chain Taco Bell is scheduled to open its first German location in the capital city by July or August 2024. This will be followed by the donut chain Krispy Kreme later in the year. Negotiations for suitable sites are already underway.
Initially, ten locations for the two restaurant chains are planned in Berlin. After establishing a strong presence in the capital, the expansion will continue with an additional ten locations in Frankfurt am Main.
The expansion goals are ambitious: Over the next five years, ISH plans to open between 100 and 150 Taco Bell restaurants across Germany. Both brands will focus on central city locations, shopping centers, and key areas.
İlkem Sahin, CEO of İş Holding, stated, “Our master franchise for these four major global brands—KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Krispy Kreme—gives us a unique opportunity to meet the needs of German consumers. We also plan to expand beyond Berlin and Frankfurt to five other European countries.”
